Why is our Ghee priced so high?

Whenever someone gets to know the price of our Ghee, they mostly ask why this Desi A2 Cow Ghee is so expensive while the normal ghee which we generally see in the market comes for around Rs. 500-650. There are many reasons why desi cow ghee is priced from 2000-4000 per litre.
We make ghee from the method described in Ayurveda generally called the Bilona method in which nearly 25 liters of milk is required to make 1 kg of ghee . In this method we first boil the milk in iron vessels and then convert it into curd. The curd is then churned clockwise and anticlockwise to get makkhan, which is then heated to get pure elixir ghee. This process is an extensive labour process and requires great care at every step.
Let's try to calculate the costing of this process: If we assume minimal cost of desi cow milk to be Rs. 60 per liter, then 25 liters of milk (required for 1 kg of ghee) would cost Rs. 1500. This is the raw material costing of ghee. If we add labour and process cost to this, it will land upto Rs. 1700 per liter.
This is nearly triple the cost of MRP at which the ghee is sold in the market. So how can we expect that the ghee sold is pure!
Secondly, we do not do a dairy business in which we sell non-milking cows or starve the male calves to death. We ethically feed all the babies with milk and take good care of them. This is an additional cost of rearing the cows and calves.
Also the prices of cattle feed are increasing day by day and the prices of dry fodder have increased to 3 times.
All these factors contribute to high prices of desi cow ghee and thus we need to have a high MRP for it. If we don't sell it at this rate we won’t be able to achieve a sustainable model.
Therefore we expect our customers to understand this economics and pay willingly when they purchase our ghee or any other brand’s desi cow ghee. We donate to gaushalas but in this case your contribution in our growth is giving back to you an elixir which is priceless. Ayurvedic shastra says that a person should eat ghee even if he has to purchase it on loan terms.
So enjoy your ghee with full trust and satisfaction :)
